Test pipes got their name from how they used to be used in diagnosing problems with an emissions system, in order to check whether a clogged catalytic converter is causing problems. Because the test pipe basically removes obstacles for the exhaust coming out of the engine, drivers noticed a nice little boost while testing.
That means test pipes are powerful tools to consider. Driving on the roads without a catalytic converter is a no-no, of course. But on the track, drivers are looking for every edge they can get to gain precious seconds, and turn to test pipes for better exhaust, horsepower gains and speed. (And we’re not going to lie: The growl sounds awesome.) Some drivers still want the benefits of a catalytic converter, however, and are drawn to high-flow catalytic converters made to handle the exhaust needs of performance engines.
Since 2006 we’ve been helping drivers improve their vehicles, and we’ve seen firsthand the benefits a test pipe or a high-flow catalytic converter can provide. That’s why we offer a wide variety of both, and make our own MAPerformance-branded parts. Forged in the U.S. from high-quality 304 stainless steel, the tubing and flanges will stand up to the heat of the track race after race.
You’ll find pipes with options such as resonators to decrease noise and anti-foulers to keep your system from firing up “check engine” lights. And our high-flow converters will improve your exhaust system by improving airflow while controlling emissions and fumes. Our staff of gearheads can answer your questions to help determine which option works better for you. Our prices are tough to beat and our order fulfillment is almost as fast as your car.
