So! I got the 3.0 Valved Catback Varex Force exhaust . Installation was easy. Wiring? even easier. just route Cig power in the glovebox tucked and then route it to the rear of the car to the tire storage and unplug the grommet to access the bottom of the car, no drilling at all. Once Installed, the instructions don't tell you, there are basically 4-5 modes. Closed, quarter open, half open, open quarter open and fully open, I called x force to confirm. just hold A for fully open, hold B for fully closed. But then, I my GPS feature to the app did not work, it wasn't until I realized , the smart box is separate $300 purchase. which is ridiculous . Honestly looking at the reviews of the smart box app, it's not worth it as you have to have the app open while you drive for the geo feature to work . so just use you key fobs to manually adjust it, so much easier, you get two fobs, you'll need to be are they're small and very imporntant to have, as its The only way to control the box valve without the smart box. How does it sound? Well, closed it sounds near stock, louder, but stock, you'll still hear the earth shattering nasty boxer cold start. but muffled. OPEN however on cold starts sounds no different than the AWE Catbacks with a nasty cold start sound. but warm starts are super nice and stock sounding . how does it drive? Driving normal mode on the gr86 is , very underwhelming . it's Different and loud-er for sure , but is it loud? No. a muffler delete is louder. but hey, it has a giant muffler to it. how's it sound with the valve closed? very stock. silent bacically. However. if you have the car in track mode and sport mode (I have the Automatic) It sounds way better! I do get pops on down shifts or breaking . Grips? MY BIGGEST GRIPE, X force is not an honest company. their videos on the showcase is nothing as it sounds person, as I know the driver featured in the white gr86 showcasing the Force exhaust. They're on UEL Headers and the force exhaust. they didn't say that in the video. so Just know, those promo videos , they're completely dishonest. and theyre on headers. another point , this exhaust is very much overall a dishonest porduct in general as , the ads have promoted the smart geo modes, when its actually a seperate additional part you need to buy. what else? oh , most of the people on YouTube who have this exhaust- where given this exhaust. they're not paying for them. and often than not, they have all removed it. and went with something else cheaper or better. But if youre looking for a valved exhaust , this is the best one and arguable the only valved exaust for the 86 and the BRZ. How to improve it? IF you want the sound made in those promo videos, you need headers. specially the UEL Catless Headers. overall . it's ok. am I happy I paid Nearly $1300 for it? Eh. The headers will make it worth it, so I can control my volume with the valve and header combo. DO I recommend it? IF you want a valved exhaust and plan to make it loud, then go for it. if not, then just go for a Muffler delete or AWD as bad as those sound on cold starts, or a Tomei for the most volume stock headers.
