This Blow off valve makes some really great sounds and MAPerformance had the best deal around. Couldn't be more happy with it.
I would like to start by saying thank you MAP for your great customer service and well packaging of the items.
The quality of this bov is amazing, great packaging from turbosmart and clear instructions you obtain online. Installation was difficult, removing a lot of parts just to gain easy access. I took it to a workshop and it was a job well done. The factory one is not solid, having plastic bits which we know it doesn't go well with heat.
After installation, i took it for a spin. The sound is incredible, especially in the higher rpms. I was smiling all through, letting of the throttle after boost and hearing the pssssshhhh! sound.
The throttle response improved slightly, holds boost much better than before. I am running a MHD Stage 1 Tune which made the car even more fun
I strongly recommend this bov for n55 and other compatible engines, you won't be disappointed
As far as I know this is the only option for a BOV on the N55. Once people find out about it you won't be able to keep them on the shelf and will be sold out everywhere. The dual port is awesome because it vents partially to atmosphere and you get all the great sounds associated with BOVs and it is much faster to respond than the DV+ I had on my car before and hopefully the reliability is up there with the rest of turbosmarts product line. Only real negative is the difficulty in installation. I had one shop quote me 8 hours at $150/hr to install it, and they are a Porsche & BMW specialty racing shop. With the right tools (not expensive ones just a bunch of socket extensions and swivel tips and stuff like that) and a lot of patients it is possible to instal yourself. There are videos on youtube from MAP and you can look up videos on how to instal the GFB DV+ and it is essentially the same process. It ended up taking me about 2 days of off and on work with a lot of meditation and deep breathing to keep from getting insanely frustrated, but I saved myself $1200+ in labor on the install so I guess some frustration and cut up hands is well worth it.
Great product, excellent quality and seems alot more durable than factory DV.. install is a bit of a pain but doable.. definitely worth the investment for future upgrades and the sound!.
