Due to the slop of the internals in the transmission, there is an unacceptable amount of horizontal slop within the 1st- and 2nd- gear shift gates. What should be little to no movement ends up being nearly 1.0 inch of play. This makes for an unnatural placement of shift gates and a lost feeling of which gear you are in. The PERRIN Shifter Stop removes this play, reducing the horizontal movement to 0.12 inches. This makes for a solid connection between the driver and transmission.
The PERRIN Shifter Stop is perfectly designed to bolt directly to the shifter. Being constructed from 6061-T6 Aluminum allows for countless downshifts from 3rd to 2nd gear without worry of damaging the shifter stop or shifter. Included with each PERRIN Shifter Stop is hardware that removes an existing gap in the shifter assembly, further reducing lateral shifter assembly movement.
The PERRIN Shifter Stop is anodized black to provide a hard yet smooth surface for your shifter to rest against during 1st to 2nd gear shifts. This also keeps your shifter stop looking nice forever.

I combined this with the short throw shifter. What a difference! No more rowing through a bag of walnuts. Shifts are short and accurate. No more missed shifts. Relatively easy to install yourself. Instructions are clear and concise. It helps to have a pencil magnet in case you drop some of the small screws. With the proper tools and thin fingers(unlike my sausage digits), it’s 1/2 to one hour job. Do it from the passenger seat so the steering wheel doesn’t get in the way.
I loved my Perrin Shifter Stop it was easy to install and it ajust my shifting in an excellent manera you guy have excellent parts for Wrx,and Sti thank you .
We all wiggle our knobs and notice how much play is in the OEM shifter. A shifter stop is what the doctor ordered to provide a cleaner feel and more piece of mind when shifting.
This took about 30 minutes, for me. Took up that sloppy feeling and is amazing now. Perrin's directions are very thorough. Brass shift bushing is next.
The shift stop cleans up first and second by a mile! Although i had a little trouble with installing the shift stop it was most likely user error. Once i got the hang of it, it was simple. Love this product.
