Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Turbo Blanket by Forge Motorsport (FMTUBL1)
The Forge Motorsport Turbo Blankets are designed to isolate the radiant heat produced by your turbocharger, and will assist in the protection and prolonging of your engine components. The unique design will assist in reducing turbo lag, and produce cooler air intake temperatures. Design innovation keeps the heat of the exhaust gases contained within the hot side of the turbocharger, away from the cool side and the intake path. More oxygen reaches the engine, therefore giving more power.

Great product and an even better price..highly recommended
I watched the Deutsche Auto Parts youtube install vid and that definitely helped. Note that on a Golf R you will not be able to get to the turbo blanket from under the car, as the video shows for a GTi. The AWD "stuff" is in the way, so don't bother getting under the car. Overall, not a bad install at all. Totally doable from just the topside on the Golf R. As mentioned later in the video, keep the detachable piece snapped on the driver's side and then tuck it down through with something that won't poke a hole in the blanket; then all you have to do is pull the two ends together on the passenger side and snap them together.
I do need to fix the retaining springs as another reviewer pointed out, so as not to interfere with the wastegate actuator arm.
First off, i did quite a bit of research upon turbo blankets. Keeping heat out of the engine bay, and heat in the exhaust side of the turbine is the goal and this product is proven to do so. As mentioned in previous reviews, the install is a bit difficult, but i handled it ok. I did this install along with my downpipe which made things easier I'm sure. The hardest part of the install is getting the snap onto the strap on the drivers side as there is very limited space to work with. I recommend a grabber tool, some rubber gloves for grip, and a bit of patience. Its a "finally!" moment once you hear the snap lol. There are no directions included, but you'll need to remove the OEM heat shield, snap on the lower forge heat shield piece to the main heat blanket (which side you choose is up to you. I installed with the passenger side snapped on, fed through the drivers side and snapped it underneath.)
************ IMPORTANT ************ For the retaining springs, attach only the spring to the drivers side around the exhaust housing. Going around the passenger side may interfere with the wastegate actuator opening and closing properly, causing an overboost/underboost failure which may lead to engine failure.
For the price to performance, you cant beat this product. If you track your car you'll notice lower intake temps, and oil temps should be lower in between runs than compared to data without a turbo blanket.
Once installed, the blanket takes its shape, so DO NOT install/reinstall this product multiple times once its been heat cycled -it is meant to be installed and stay there. DO however, replace this product if you notice any oil leaks etc. getting on the product as this will increase the flashpoint of those fluids resulting in a possible fire.
The turbo blanket effectively lowered my engine bay temps. I did not even bother re-installing the factory heat shield as it seemed to just get in the way once I had the blanket installed. I highly recommend this to anyone's vehicle but especially if you are tuned. I installed the turbo blanket along with my new downpipe which made installation of the blanket slightly easier. My advise is take your time and having a second pair of hands from the top while you try to adjust the blanket from beneath the car will definitely help with the install.
Been a fan of this platform for many years. The turbo blanket only made sense to buy version due to the function, price, and overall value. It'll keep your turbo nice and toasty for all that turbo goodness. Pain in the ass to install, so bring a buddy or a lift ( you'll need it)
