Subaru EJ Turbo Blanket by COBB Tuning
The COBB Turbo Blanket is designed to limit the amount of heat that is transferred from your turbocharger to your engine bay as well as keeping hotter exhaust gases that exit the system faster through decreased density. By limiting the amount of transferred heat, you extend the life of your under hood components, decrease intake temps, and improve the response from your car.
Constructed with a fragmentized fire retardant volcanic rock outer layer (Rated 1500°F Direct Heat / 1800°F Radiant Heat) and internally insulated with high temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool (Rated 1800°F Direct Heat / 2300°F Peak Heat).
The COBB turbo blanket insulates the turbine housing offering multiple benefits. It prevents the dissipation of useful exhaust energy improving turbo RPM acceleration. This leads to faster turbo spool and getting to peak torque more quickly. It also helps limit heat soak to neighboring parts of the turbocharger.

This is another quality Cobb product. It is well-thought-out and fits the stock turbo extremely well. The installation is a bit of a challenge, but not one that cannot be overcome with blood and sweat. This is one of the better fitting turbo blankets.
If you've got the turbo off of your car, get one of these and install it while the turbo is out. I did my installation while doing a downpipe installation and it was a minor pain. I was able to use one of the spring clips for the back clips, but the front clips I used the included wire. Time will tell if the blanket is secure enough. My method for installing was to secure a length of the included wire to the forward most transmission tab on the blanket and feed that under the turbo between the up pipe and the passenger side head. Then secure a length of wire to one of the included springs on the remaining tabs. Secure the spring (while doing a considerable amount of swearing) so that the blanket is held in place. Then use the wire to secure the other tabs. If you take your time and are careful you'll never get it. Brute force and ignorance are your friend here.
Prepare for a bit of smoking while the blanket cures. I've done about 15 miles on the car in 95 F SWFL weather and there was some smoke coming from the hood during stops at lights.
