2002-2007 Subaru WRX Double Adjustable Shifter by Cobb Tuning
Designed using CAD technology, the COBB Black anodized billet shifter body is CNC machined from 6061 Aluminum. Like our original design, the shift throw distance and shift knob height are independently adjustable and both can easily be adjusted with the shifter installed in the vehicle.
Steel socket head screws are set in a counter bore for a flush mount and provide clamping force to firmly hold the upper and lower slider shafts in place. This design allows easy independent adjustment of shift knob height and shifter throw length, while being strong enough to stand up to rowing through the gears with extreme enthusiasm.
Our revolutionary Double Adjustable Shifter ushers in a new generation of adjustability for one of the most critical links from driver to car, the ability to control both the height of the shift knob as well as the length of the shifter throw. This shifter has a "wide barrel" and is for use in cars that did not come with the Subaru factory short-shifter option.

I went from the factory SPT SS to this COBB SS. I don't know why anyone would buy anything else. You can adjust your height and throw! Not only is this awesome for the customization of each driver... you can also adjust it if/when you upgrade your transmission.
If you want a good write up on this shifter vs OEM, Kartboy and SPT check out Xluben's thread on NASIOC with photos and measurements.
My experience with this COBB SS has been positive. I really like the ability to make this setup specific to my needs. It was nice to adjust it from both levels. It made a huge difference over the SPT SS which is similar in measurements to the Kartboy option. This SS goes way lower and shorter then anything else on the market.... and the exact opposite too! Adjustable SS is the only way to go.
Install was very easy on the 2009 WRX. We were able to get my STP out and the COBB in and adjust in under 45 Minutes. Fine tuning may require some seat time. I would suggest setting up the shift lever and taking the car out for a spin before you put all the trim back together. This will make fine tuning adjustments easier if you don't like your initial settings.
I would highly suggest picking up the Kartboy Shifter Bushing Package from MAP with this SS.
