Cobb Tuning 6MT Stage 1 Drivetrain Package | 2004-2020 Subaru WRX STI (215X01)

I don’t know how to explain it but ever since installing this short throw shifter I experienced a bit of difficulty shifting throughout the gears and grinded but has not happened after that but I just don’t know what’s up and what’s the best adjustment setting if you could help me and I’m trying to eliminate all shifter play so what’s all upgrades needed for that?

I bought this for my brand new ‘21 Subaru STI to replace the factory shifter and bushings. Despite being brand new this kit made a huge difference.
I seemed to Always miss the 2nd to 3rd gear change every time I drove even somewhat aggressively, I’m 34 and have driven manuals all my life and never ever had an issue shifting and didn’t know if it was me, or the car.
Since swapping over to this kit the shifts are just so much more positive and crisp feeling, I haven’t missed 3rd since, and it just enhances the driving experience so much.
It actually almost clicks into gear in a really satisfying way, and if I had to use one word to describe the feeling it would be ‘crisp’
This does increase NVH just slightly
In the first few gears you can definitely hear a bit of a whine, but I actually love the sound, it actually makes it sound like a race car and reminds me of the sound in cabin of an Aussie V8 supercar race car. It’s not overly loud or annoying. But definitely there and I just feel like it makes you feel like you’re driving something special and slightly modified.

This STS is a great addition for anyone looking to get rid of the slop of the factory shifter performance based or otherwise.

Great upgrade and really a necessity if your going to build more power. Have had these on my other Sti’s and never had an issue, great product.

This kit was an easy installation if you have the correct tool. Highly recommend having or buying a c-clip plier. The oem front bushing was a paint to get out, but if you cut some of the rubber flange on one side. It can be pushed out. The rear bushing is also hard to do if you are lating on the ground, so the higher you lift the car. The easier it is to do.
The reverse lockout cable needes to be centered inside the shifter, so it doesnt rattle and tie the cable underneath so it doesn't rub and rattle.
The feel of this shifter is night and day difference compared to oem and oem short shifter. No more slop or play when shifting from gear to gear.
