The 4B11 in the Evolution X is a high horsepower turbocharged engine and runs a significant amount of piston-to-wall clearance. The cylinder pressure from the forced air creates more heat in turbocharged applications when compared to non-turbocharged engines, thus the "World Engine" was designed as a "loose" engine for added safety and longevity purposes. Unfortunately, a byproduct of an engine that allows a lot of blow-by is oil residue makes its way past the PCV system and ends up in the intake manifold, and many other places.

This oil residue eventually enters the combustion chamber and will lead to lower overall fuel octane which can significantly affect how your engine runs. We have been using an oil separation solution for over 7 years that actually separates the oil from the air flowing between the PCV and intake manifold. It sounds easy enough, as many people have tried to adapt simple catch cans and industrial water valves to remove the oil from the air. Those products do work OK but only separate a small amount with respect to how much oil is actually passing through the system. Enter the AGP Oil Accumulator.

Our three chamber oil separator gathers the airborne oil particles through the middle chamber. Oil is separated from the air through the filtering media and drains through a perforated aluminum plate on the bottom side of the middle chamber then accumulating in the bottom chamber. As this oil is filtered through the middle chamber, clean air is then filtered again and exits through the top chamber. This three chamber system design provides the best protection against unwanted oil making its way to the combustion process.

The bottom of the Oil Accumulator has a threaded -4 bung and an ORB plug to allow the user an easy way to drain the oil.

The Oil Accumulator is completely constructed of aluminum and comes with a standard brushed aluminum finish. To provide some extra 'bling' to your engine bay, we also offer this polished or powdercoated finishes. This fits the Evolution X perfectly and comes with hose and hose clamps for an easy installation.

Quality Part, simple enough install

On the Evo forums and several other sources I read a lot about oil blow by and the correlation to knock and reduced octane rating. Most people recommend an air/oil separator to remedy the issue and the AGP set up is simple and easy. I have seen more expensive units that require you to install the fittings yourself and use Teflon tape or some liquid seal on the threads. To me this is just adding more room for error. The AGP unit is completely dummy proof and provides good clear instructions. My sole recommendation when installing this piece is do to limited work area, get all the hoses and clamps on the can first prior to mounting. Once you have that done, mount the can and keep the mounting bolt and the clamps loose enough for any needed adjustments. After install, the only differenced I noticed in my car is vacuum pressure now sits at a steady 20Hg, prior to install it was steady at 22Hg. Overall very happy with product.

Quick install fits good

As usual MAP beats everyone on offering a quality product; even less than if you ordered it from AGP directly! I bought this after reading a reputable speed shop blog that they believed the recirc into the intake by #1 cylinder caused knock to the result of a failed rod. This is cheap insurance for any modded car, especially turbocharged. The install was quick and easy, and fitment was perfect - there isn't a whole lot of room to work with. The only negative would be that to empty the catch can you have to remove the one bolt holding it to the frame and lift it enough up to remove the plug on the bottom. Then you have to be careful to not get oil all over. A nice improvement would be a petcock with a hose running to the bottom of the car.
