Will The Subaru WRX tS Be Worth It When It Comes Out?
In case you missed it, over the weekend Subaru released a brand new version of its iconic WRX model that we think will shake up the performance market big time. At Wicked Big Meet, we got our first ever look at the all-new WRX tS, an STI-tuned and race-ready car that's built exclusively for performance on road and track.
You might be tempted to think that this means that the iconic WRX STI trim is being retired, or at least shelved for the time being, but as far as we can tell this isn't the case. The WRX tS is a continuation of the legendary STI nameplate, preserving the spirit of adrenaline, performance, control and fun that has made it such a legendary model for so many.
Knowing that, today we want to take you on a tour of the 2025 WRX tS so you can see what it brings to the table under the hood, in its cockpit and around its redesigned body. Upon first glance we're loving what we're seeing so far, so come join us below and let's see what the tS can do!

Engine Specs For The New 2025 Subaru WRX tS
The 2025 WRX tS will feature a 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER engine, capable of producing up to 271 horsepower. That much power in that compact of a body frame should give you plenty of juice when cornering and on straightaways, and to help matters further, the tS will also feature a six-speed manual transmission and standard Active Torque Vectoring.
This technology isn't exclusive to Subaru, although the name of it is only found in the Subie lineup. Active Torque Vectoring is a feature that can shift more power output to different wheels in real time, which means that the tS is built more for track usage than many other model types out of the box - we can't wait to see what it can do in a live setting.

Best Performance Features on the 2025 Subaru WRX tS
Elsewhere on the 2025 WRX tS, you'll find plenty of high-tech features that are designed to help you get better control, handling and stopping power on your drive. We'll start with Drive Mode Select, a feature on the tS that was only available on the WRX's GT trim previously. It offers electronically-controlled STI-tuned dampers to tailor your performance needs differently depending on the usage, with settings for the following drive modes:
- Comfort
- Normal
- Sport
Also, the tS will bring a stock Brembo brake kit to the fold, featuring six-piston calipers in the front and two-piston calipers in the back. This combines with large pads and rotors to promise better stopping distances and pedal feel while you drive, and we all know that a responsive car is definitely preferred when you're pushing your vehicle to its limit.
If you have a WRX in your driveway already, don't feel like you need to upgrade to a new one in order to unleash its power. We have high-quality brake kits and other parts and accessories to fit your WRX STI and a whole lot more in our store - check out Brembo brakes for your WRX today!
Release Date and Pricing For The 2025 Subaru WRX tS
Because the tS was unveiled so recently, we don't have a ton of info to pass along regarding pricing and availability. However, what we can tell you is that we expect it to arrive in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2025 - from there, if you want to grab one for yourself, you'll be able to. We'd also expect pricing for the model to be similar to existing, high-level WRX trims, so keep that in mind on your search.
