Florida man builds family car into race car.
Having hit the US market in 2001, the Lexus IS300, otherwise known as the Toyota Altezza in Japan, has been quite the popular platform for all types of purposes: grocery-store runs, going to the beach, going to your 9-5, and of course... going to the race track.
That's exactly what Eric's intentions were when he picked up this IS300 back in 2011 - having a streetable race car he could still drive to/from the track and for weekend errands. As we all know, the IS300 came with a 2JZ-GE (non turbo Supra engine) in the USA which makes it a perfect platform to modify as it already had the space and dimensions to fit mostly anything that the big-brother big-power MKIV Supras could. Some even refer to this chassis as a 4 door Supra.
Big mood with big power.
When Eric brought this car home, it was already modified but wasn't exactly what he wanted. Over the years, Eric revamped it to be exactly where it is now. From the custom metal widebody molded into the Vertex front end along with the stroker 3.4L Titan 2JZGTE and v160 transmission, it resembles nothing of what it was when he picked it up. With the latest setup, it's making right over 840 horsepower to the wheels.
From the comfy Sparco seats to the ProEFI/Racepak combination, the car definitely is dialed in. Because of that, Eric drives this car to late-night car meets and to the race track while enjoying it with his extremely supportive family when they can. The car is 100% streetable and you'd never guess it made as much power as it did if you never saw the engine bay or heard it run and drive as it looks and sounds like a beast.
Eric explains it all in this interview!
