We are continuing our journey to build the worlds fastest and highest hp 1.5T civic Si and wanted to give you guys an update! Spring is finally beginning to take hold in Minnesota, here, and we have been hard at work on our Honda Civic Si to make sure that the car is ready for the 2019 Season. A lot of preparation and hard work is going into this car to make sure it will be a successful, fun season for us, so let’s take a look at the things that have been done, are being done and are planned to go on in the near future really quick to bring everyone up to speed.
Starting with the obvious, we have been working on redesigning our turbo kit to accommodate a larger Garret based Gen2 ball bearing turbo. We loved the Borg Warner turbo kit from our original testing, but we needed more power and the Borg Warner footprint made for a super tight fit in what is already a very tight engine bay. Long term, we believe the Garrett family of turbos has the widest variety of available power delivery packages that are compatible with the available space.
We partnered with Belak Racing Wheels to deliver what we believe will be an ideal combination of size and lightweight packaging. You’ll obviously note the tire size and wheel size gained us a larger sidewall which we hope will help us launch the car with less damaging shock loading to the transmission.
Obviously, to fit those smaller wheels, we also put together a small brake kit which should provide plenty of stopping power to scrub off speed, but also weighs less than the factory, and has the obvious advantage of being a smaller diameter, so we can fit these beautiful Belak wheels on to this car.
And if you are looking at those wheels, and that brake kit, you probably spotted those Fortune Auto 510 series coilovers that we have put on the car. Fortune Auto worked with us to develop a coilover perfectly suited to our desired track specific specifications and, got them turned around and sent out to us in just a matter of a couple of weeks. The 510 series coilovers are not currently available for purchase, but Fortune Auto 500 series coilovers are available!
Speaking of suspension, we also had the chance to bolt in a set of Eibach rear camber arms which are adjustable… they refer to it as their Pro-Alignment Rear Camber Arm Kit and it is a very nice piece. We are installing them specifically to help us dial in the rear camber a bit as we weren’t happy with where the camber was at once we got the suspension installed and initially set up.
Along with these are a set of Whiteline Adjustable toe arms, giving us full control over the alignment in the car. This will be a major plus as we are dialing the car in.
As you can clearly tell, we are working hard to get this vehicle ready for some track time, and as the time approaches, the excitement has really been ratcheting up. We hope you all stay tuned for our next video where we unveil the final track ready configuration and hopefully, begin to start seeing some results on the dyno as we prepare to bring this car out!
